What is Meta-Coaching?
The coach is an expert in process and not necessary in content. The coach is aware at a higher level, at a meta-level of awareness. The coach as a change agent works with the processes of how humans develop and transform. A coach has an expertise at a meta-level. The person coached is 'in the game' and the coach is, just like in sports, 'outside of the game'. The coach is a master at the process and systemic part of the game.
Meta means : Above, beyond, about, or at a higher level to another.
A meta-coach will first and foremost be able to recognize, detect, and effectively address the processes, structures, mind sets, frames, beliefs, understandings, causes and effects of the person learning to become a master in a given area. From business, leadership, management, creativity to relationships, persuasion, emotional intelligence etc. And he will address the things that get in the way of that excellence (i.e. lack of clarity, indecisions, excuses, emotions, negative self- image, guilt, anger etc.).
